With everything I knew until a month ago so far away, making sure I can broadcast what’s going on with me and keeping in touch with others (particularly my family, in a shocking turn of events) has taken a more central role.
I’ve made it pretty clear over the last few years that if there’s anything you can count on with me online, it’s that you can’t count on anything I do online being very stable, because I’m a hopeless tinkerer. This needs to change. I owe it to my family and friends. I owe it to me. A consistent address would probably be a nice start.
My only new years resolution was to try to be more accessible to Family and Friends. This starts with getting my broadcast methods under control.

Justin seems to think I need more Domo in my life.

Mom didn’t have time to dry and comb his hair this morning.
Washing it was imperative because last night he turned over his eggs on top of his head when he was full.

Kristian has been on a major indie games kick this week.
Sauerbraten - A free FPS shooter. It seems to be based on a fast, efficient engine. There’s a number of scenarios currently built for it, but no over-arching theme. If you’re looking for something revolutionary, it’s not in this box — yet. They are working on Eisenstern, an RPG, so there’s obviously more to this engine than I’ve seen so far.
Eternal Lands - This free to play beta-RPG isn’t going to win any graphics awards, but based off the screenshots it’s got it’s pretty moments. Sadly, I spent most of my time in Eternal Lands crashing and trying to get my graphics working. The OS X version isn’t quite there yet.
Privateer: Ascii Sector - a free fan remake of the Origin classic in pure text. Very fresh retro flavor. I barely scratched the surface of this game, but there’s a quest language built in for expanding your own universe.
Dwarf Fortress - More ASCII madness. I must admit, this game both fascinates and repels me. It seems both horrendously complex and endlessly fun. Thankfully, I keep dying quickly so the endless fun has yet to kick in.
Legerdemain - A roguelike in Java you can launch from the web (handy from work!) or download and run yourself at home. Legerdemain attempts to merge Rogue to Interactive Fictions like Zork: just mindless hacking and slashing won’t see you through.
